The regional competition was held at Panthers Port Macquarie on Saturday, March 24 before the girls headed to Sydney to compete against girls all over the state.
Fourteen-year-old Montana Callaghan of Harrington, a student at Port Macquarie’s St Columba Anglican School, won the junior category, coming equal first in the NSW competition.
Eighteen-year-old, former Port Macquarie high student Drew Miante was crowned the senior winner in Port Macquarie and went on to place in the NSW competition.
Both girls will now head to Townsville at the end of May to compete for the Australia wide title.
Montana Callaghan said she has been overwhelmed by the whole situation but can’t wait to compete on a national stage.
“It feels really cool to be able to say I am the NSW Junior Miss Teen Australia winner and I don’t think it has sunk in yet,” Montana said.
“It was a really great night, first in Port Macquarie and then in Sydney and everyone I met was so lovely and nice.
“I am very much looking forward to heading to Townsville in May to compete and to explore the opportunities I will get from the experience.”
Montana said she recommends all young girls try for the Miss Teen competition.
“It is not about having a specific look it is about having the whole package and most importantly personality,” she said.
“When I leave school I want to be a model so it will be a great chance for me to get a step up and experience what a model would on a larger scale.”
