Steiner Education Australia chief executive officer Virginia Moller was among the guests at the Port Macquarie Steiner School’s official opening on April 6.
“It’s such an exciting development to see the new school [officially] open,” she said.
“It’s significant because we need more of such schools in our education in Australia.”
There are 47 Steiner schools across Australia.
Ms Moller said the Port Macquarie Steiner School was a solid school with a very strong foundation and it was bound to grow.
“The school has a vision for its own future and I know it will grow into that future and that’s why I’m excited,” she said.
Port Macquarie Steiner’s beginnings can be traced back to the Little Bowerbirds playgroup.
Port Macquarie Steiner president Alanna Alfaro recognised the people who pulled together to make the school a reality and those who had since come on board.
The Table Street school started on January 31, 2018 with six students and teacher Kristy Barry.
Mrs Alfaro said the school would enrich the place that we lived in and hopefully grow strong, robust, confident world-caring children.
“We have now put our roots into the ground and we are going to keep growing and growing and hopefully share it with our whole community,” she said.
Mayor Peta Pinson congratulated everyone involved in making the school a reality.
