A day to acknowledge and celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, over 300 people will come together to recognise women in the Hastings who are doing fantastic things in the community.
A partnership between Port Macquarie MP, Leslie Williams, and the Hastings Business Women’s Network (HBWN), the sold out breakfast event will also announce the winners of the Heroine and Young Heroine of the Year.
The heroine awards recognises the efforts of unsung women in the community who encourage and strive for disruptive innovation, creating new norms in our community, in line with the international theme of #PressforProgress.
“I am really proud to be a part of the International Women’s Day event in Port Macquarie because it is a great opportunity to celebrate the wonderful achievements of women in the Hastings,” Mrs Williams said.
“In its seventh year, I think people now recognise this as the International Women’s Day event of the year and look forward to coming together each year.
“We have an amazing group of women who are making outstanding contributions to the community through out the Hastings, and it will be fantastic to come together and celebrate them with the announcement of the Heroine and Yong Heroine of the Year.”
Kelly King, president of the HBWN said the theme for this years International Women’s Day was all about disrupting the status quo with the theme ‘Press for Progress’.
“The theme this year is all about highlighting women who are disrupting the status quo in the community and paving the way for gender parity and equality,” Mrs King said.
“The whole day is all about celebrating women and raising awareness for gender equality and funds for the Port Macquarie Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Service who do incredible work supporting women who are in domestic violence situations.”
The sold out breakfast event will be at Port Panthers on March 8.
