Three cars have been cloaked in what appears to be paint stripper causing thousands of dollars worth of damage and leaving the owners furious.
And it’s not the first time it has happened.
Residents say the vandal has drawn aim at their street near popular Shelly Beach with random and malicious attacks dating back for more than two years.
In that time, up to 40 vehicles have been targeted in the same way with a similar substance.
Port Macquarie Police were called to investigate the matter on Monday, February 19 with samples from each car to be sent away for analysis and examination.
“The attack occurred some time on Sunday night or during the early hours of Monday morning,” a duty officer said.
“It seems a substance like paint stripper has been splattered over three vehicles causing significant damage.
“This is a part of an on-going matter in this street for several years now with numerous cars damaged in exactly the same way.”
Police have confirmed they will be monitoring the area. It is likely the attacks are being carried out by the same person or people.
For some residents, it is the third time their vehicle has been damaged leaving them with repair bills in the thousands.
If anyone has information relating to this matter, they are urged to contact Port Macquarie Police on 6583 0199 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
