GREAT LIFE: Gertrud Lausch celebrates 100 years On Saturday, February 17.

It will be a day to remember for Gertrud Lausch when her family and friends come together to celebrate 100 years of her life on February 17 at Lake Cathie.

Gertrud was born on February 17, 1918, in Schwelm Germany and married her husband, the love of her life, Hans Lausch in Hamburg in 1941.

After she moved with Australia with her family, Gertrud lived in the small NSW town of Bundarra for 23 years before moving to Armidale for two years, and, since 2017 has called the beautiful Port Macquarie-Hastings region home.

Leading a full and active life, Gertrud and her husband had four children; Helga, Sigrid, Irmtraut and Peter before also raising her granddaughter Yasmin.

These days Gertrud has five grandchildren Yasmin, Beate, Elke, Mathew and Olivia, three great grandchildren Ben, Warren and Amanda and five great great grand children Jordyn, Brandon, Kiah, Oscar and Matilda who love and adore her very much.

Great granddaughter Amanda, described Gertrud as a kind and lovely women who would do anything for anyone.

“She is and always has been a wonderful, caring, kind, honest, generous person who also cherishes time spent with her family,” Amanda said.

“She would also go above and beyond to do anything for the people that she loves and is very much loved by all that know her and we are all blessed that she is apart of our lives.”

Amanda said that some of Gertrud’s favourite things are spending time with her family and being by the ocean.

“Since we moved to Port Macquarie my great grandmothers favourite thing to go is to go to the beach and be surrounded by family and friends,” she said.

“This weekend the whole family is coming together to celebrate her 100th birthday at a party in Lake Cathie which will be a lovely day and something I know she will love.”
