Two Hastings organisations have received $4,350 to stage events during the Seniors Festival between April 4 and 15.
Arts Mid North Coast is organising a dance event for 1,500 people and have been awarded $4,000 while the Port Macquarie Historical Society has been granted $350 to stage an art exhibition for seniors.
This year’s Seniors Festival theme is ‘Let’s do more together’.
Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said across the state, $200,000 has been granted to organisations to help celebrate the festival’s 60th anniversary year.
“The NSW Seniors Festival provides the perfect opportunity for older people to have some fun and get involved in our community,” Mrs Williams said.
“In the coming weeks I will also be announcing details of the free Seniors Festival concert at Port Macquarie Panthers on Friday, April 6. I present this wonderful concert each year in association with Hastings Combined Seniors.
“I urge all local seniors to take advantage of these events and get physically, culturally and socially active this April.”
Further information on events and activities in our area and across NSW will be available at www.seniorsfestival.nsw.gov.au in the coming weeks.
