Australian rugby sevens player Jesse Parahi is excited to be back for the Sydney Sevens this weekend after spending more than two years out of the game due to multiple injuries.

Parahi hadn't played a game of sevens since December 2016, but made a successful return to the game at the Darwin Hottest Sevens last weekend.
Over the two year period, Parahi suffered an ankle injury, two facial injuries, and knee, hamstring and back injuries. Now he is happy to be back playing the game and said while there were tough times, he always had dreams of getting back to the sport.
"I've always sort of dreamt of getting back for Sydney [Sevens] and the Commonwealth Games and I'm hoping to kick on to the Olympics, so that's my goal and that's what's been keeping me ticking along," Parahi said.
"I'm just happy I could get back for Sydney this year, it was a bit of a tough run but I got the body there in the end."
Coach Andy Friend is happy to have Parahi return after his extended time out of the game and welcomes his experience back into the team.
"It was December 2016 that he last played, that's a long time out of playing a World Series, but he's a seasoned campaigner. It's good to have him back. He played well up in Darwin and I'm excited for him."
