Rod Lane began decorating his house 23 years ago when his daughter was a little girl, and he kept going, adding to the award-winning display, when his son came along. Now the grandchildren love it too. And so do people all over the Hastings who flock to the area to marvel at the display and feel festive.
“This is our fantastic home, which we have spent many years building and improving our Christmas light display for the community and family to see,” he said.
The visitors also contribute to charity by putting money in a collection box. Rod’s home is featured on our Christmas Lights around the Hastings map.
Rod says he doesn’t worry about his electricity bill all through December - he just loves to see people enjoying the light show.
The Christmas lights display at Rod’s house at 351 Sarahs Crescent in King Creek is on every night in December from 8pm to 10.30pm. On Christmas Eve, Santa comes to hand out lollies and glow sticks to the kids who visit him.
