THE Hastings Valley Netball 17 years Representative Team was awarded the Junior Sports Team of the Year at the Port Macquarie-Hastings Sportsperson of the Year awards on November 13.

Ann Heaton is the coach of the team and was full of praise for her players.
“The award topped off a wonderful season for the girls. They are a very dedicated group, and a united group of girls,” she said.
“They’re very tight knit. As a coach I am very proud. I get such a kick out of seeing the girls work hard and receive the accolades they do.”
The team had a strong season in what was the 40th year for the association.
“We enjoyed the season, we loved every training and carnival we attended, and I think it is something they will remember the year they won state and this award.”
The association featured heavily at the awards, also being named the Senior Team of the Year, as well as the Sporting Volunteer of the Year, Natalie Jordan..
