Missing first-string bowlers Paul Stait, Paul Munro and Thomas Chatfield, Pirates struggled early and Hyde (78) took full advantage.
Mark Vandoros took the full brunt of Hyde’s power hitting as he went for 30 runs off one over.
Macca raced to 1-101 after nine overs before Shuvra Bose (4-24) provided the brakes as Pirates fought back to dismiss Macquarie for 197 in the 34th over.
Talented youngster Jaryd Humphreys (2-11 off eight) was the pick of the bowlers.
In reply, Pirates run chase never got going as they slumped to 7-51 in the 15th over.
Some late-order hitting from Rod Morton (37) provided some respectability to the scoreline before Pirates were bowled out for 100 in the 23rd over.
