The idea of the committee was to gather a cross section of the community to help drive this project ensuring that not only local needs but concerns are equally met.
The recently formed committee met with Mayor Peta Pinson last week to discuss ways of progressing the communities desire to see a tidal pool along our Port Macquarie coastline. The pathway to establishing a feasibility study was also tabled which would consider both social, costing and environmental factors of such a project.
The committee is currently exploring ways to secure 'non- rate payer' funding for both the construction and ongoing maintenance of the project, balancing both the communities desire to see the Hastings region acquire such an asset but also recognising the need to see no added pressure on local rates and services.
Meetings with both the Mayor and State Government representatives continue.
The Port Macquarie Tidal Pool Committee can be contacted in the following ways www.facebook.com/pmqtidalpool.com.au or email pmqtpc7@gmail.com.
The committee welcomes all and any input from members of the community and looks forward to working with the local council to ensure the communities needs are met.
