She returned to teach in both Port and Wauchope and now volunteers with Mrs York’s Garden to give back to the community she loves.
“I remember the garden all those years ago and, having retired this year, I now volunteer there,” she said.
“It is definitely home for me. The climate, the beaches, the hinterland … my father was born in Wauchope so I have a foot in both camps.”
A rainy day is in store for much of the Mid North Coast, but the bad news is humidity will skyrocket to 97 percent today.
Port Macquarie will be cloudy with a high chance of rain, becoming less likely this afternoon. The chance of a thunderstorm during the morning and afternoon sees north westerly/north easterly winds at 15 to 25 kilometres an hour tending NW/SW in the morning then tending SE/SW 20 km/h in the late afternoon.
Daytime maximum temperatures are 24 to 30, but with the humid conditions it is likely to feel much higher.
