The funds were granted by the state government through its Safer Roads Program to carry out 172 vital safety upgrades to the state’s road network which will help to drive down the road toll Towards Zero.
The improvement works on Gordon Street involve modifications to the existing traffic control signal infrastructure and are expected to be undertaken in the first half of next year.
“This important road safety program is funded through the Community Road Safety fund where all speed camera revenue is sent,” member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said.
She confirmed council identified this intersection as being unsafe.
