The former public servant was looking for a lifestyle change and, being a collector himself, saw the perfect opportunity.
“I’ve always had a love of books, records and comics. I’ve been a collector all my life and I’ve wanted to expand and share that with the world,” he said.
“I met Marshall and Anne when they were setting up nine years ago, and they bought many things off me from my previous book shop that I owned.”
The shop has over 10,000 books on a database, with Mr Russell saying despite looking very full there is some order to the madness.
“I’ll keep the same vibe and community culture that Anne and Marshall have built up, but I’ve opened up the shop to include vinyl records, collectable comics and other knick knacks to appeal to all people across the board,” he said.
Mrs Richards said the shop has been very good for her, and was happy to see Peter take it over.
“He is great. He’s young, he has fresh ideas and the new additions to the shop are great,” she said.
“I’d like to encourage everyone to come down and check out what is a very community oriented shop.”
