Wendy Ward, Executive Manager Early Education at St Joseph’s Family Services, said current and former staff members and families came from far and wide to help celebrate the milestone.
“It was delightful to see so many current and former staff members gathered together, catching up and sharing stories about their time with the services,” said Wendy.
“One former staff member, Julia Matthews, came all the way from Camden in Sydney to be part of the event.”
The children attending had fun playing with balloon animals, having their faces painted, participating in paint play and getting involved with real animals from Old McDonalds Travelling Farms.
Adam Spencer, Chief Executive Officer of St Agnes’ Parish, said St Joseph’s Family Services started in the Parish hall in Horton Street in 1973, and a few years later, when the need was identified to provide different options for daycare to working families, Hastings Family Day Care was launched in 1977.
Hastings Family Day Care was the first service of its kind in the region and has been working to making life easier for families ever since,” said Adam.
“I want to congratulate Hastings Family Day Care on its achievements and pay tribute to the contributions made by staff, Educators and families to its ongoing success.”
Hastings Family Day Care has offers a unique alternative to a traditional daycare centre for parents who may prefer their children to be cared for in a safe home environment.
