Look no further than your farm. Take a look at what you already have and work with it.
If your land is not in the right climate, it won’t produce the luscious crops you desire so take a realistic approach to life on the farm and go with the flow of your property.
Grow Vegetables. Tomatoes and peppers are an agricultural produce that play a prominent role in the preparation of sauces and soups. This is irrespective of the part of the world that you live in. They are so easy to grow and there is a large market for them that is stable.
Tomatoes can be grown very easily. Cut tomatoes into slices and cover with soil then watch them grow. Taking only a few weeks to sprout, they quickly take over the garden if you let them.
Spinach, lettuce, pumpkin, broccoli, cabbage, and cucumber, are all vegetables that are consumed in all over the world and can be grown almost anywhere.
There is a very large market for vegetables and there always will be. If your property has fertile soil and you can spend time planting and harvesting, this is a great option while also setting up a self sustainability system that will result in less trips to the shops.
Grow grains. Grains such as wheat, oat, barley, cereal, soybeans and sunflower seeds last longer than vegetables if well preserved and are used in food processing and the production of beer.
Mushrooms are another crop that is easy to cultivate. Mushrooms are rich in vitamins, protein and minerals; they are favoured over meat or even fish by some people.
Grow herbs and flowers. This type of farming is not popular amongst farmers but it is highly profitable especially if you choose herbs and flowers that are in high demand.
Sell farm by-products. There are many by-products on a working farm and some of them have re-sell value.
Feathers. If you have any feathered creatures on your farm consider collecting and selling the feathers. People love to include them in crafts.
Manure. If you raise animals, you can bag and sell manure to the public or garden centres.
