About 60 people joined the Coast Front Realty team of Sue Jogever, Paul Jogever and Olivia Evans, and members of the Make a Difference Committee at the July 28 sleep out at Port Macquarie Breakwall Holiday Park.
Coast Front Realty organised the sleep out in support of Make a Difference.
Make a Difference (M.A.D) is a non-profit organisation raising money to get an Orange Sky Laundry van on the Mid-North Coast.
Mrs Jogever said she was passionate about youth in our region and raising awareness of the homeless situation in our region.
The temperature dipped to about one degree overnight but the conversations helped to keep people’s minds off the cold conditions.
“It really did give a small snippet of how the homeless live, how hard it is to be living on the streets,” Mrs Jogever said about the sleep out.
Supporters at the sleep out ranged in age from six to 60.
“By sleeping out, we brought together our community, which included high school students, parents and young families, and connected everyone and that was why it was such a success,” Mrs Jogever said.
“People just embraced it and wanted to give back.”
She said people really came together as a community and that was great.
