A few days later, she was a guest on the set of the Castaway, a 13-part series filmed in Port Macquarie around Miners Beach.
And now a committee organising a reunion of the Castaway cast, crew and locals involved in its production want to find Kris Tydd or her family.
Committee spokesperson Mitch McKay said Kris was aged 18 years at the time of her visit to the set.
“She was hailed as the toast of Port Macquarie after claiming her crown and then the following day she got a pleasant surprise at work when Castaway production manager Mike Baynham invited her to have a guided tour of the set.
“From a report in the Port Macquarie News of September 20, 1973, Kris mingled quite freely around the set and was introduced to cast and crew.
“Kris was then invited to a private cocktail party which was organised to coincide with the arrival of some of the financial partners of the production.”
