A LONE sailor watched his yacht burn and sink after a fire ripped through the vessel north of Port Macquarie.
Port Macquarie Marine Rescue was called to the incident on Saturday, June 24 to transfer the sailor to shore.
Fortunately he escaped any serious injury.
When Marine Rescue crew PM30 arrived, the boat was still on fire and unable to be salvaged.
NSW Water Police determined the vessel to be a navigation hazard and ordered the boat be sunk by filling it with water.
