Being a regular visitor to Port Macquarie for 20 years now, I must write to express my dismay at the local council’s decision to have a Kmart warehouse in the middle of town.

We used to visit to relax and wake up to the sound of the stays clinking on the masts and now we get a nerve jarring noise going all hours. The appeal of the location is trashed and I can only guess what the residents must feel.
Having just visited and witnessed first hand what an elephant it is.
On having a closer look I note with further dismay that the building, although trading, is NOT finished.
Pity about the poor residents on Warlters Street.
Apart from the noise and traffic that must now be their lot, what forward thinking bonehead decided to plant 20m eucalypts in the ridiculously wide median strip? In 10 years’ time council will be paying for that blunder.
The media should be told about this as I am sure complaining to council would be a waste of time.
What a disaster.
