Works to upgrade Town Green has started as part of a major face lift taking place in the Port Macquarie CBD.

Stage one work is underway to renovate and transform the popular central green space.

To allow for the implementation of the new design existing trees have been removed and will be replaced with established trees, new turf and irrigation systems.

A five metre concrete path along the foreshore will provide an accessible link between Lady Nelson Wharf and the breakwall. New lighting and seating will also be put in.

The sea wall will also be rejuvenated, with 2,500 tonnes of new rock being brought in to protect the area. Stormwater upgrades will occur and the existing power and lighting will be replaced to make the area more appealing.

The work is scheduled for completion in November.
