WITH rain washing out Wauchope RSL’s preliminary match with the Port Panther Pirates on the weekend, and the fact they finished higher on the ladder in second place, they will go through to face the first-placed Macquarie Hotel this weekend at Wayne Richards Park.

“It’s pretty unfortunate for the Pirates, but with playing everyone so many times a year, I guess they had plenty of chances to overtake Wauchope for second place,” Macquarie Hotel captain Josh Hyde said.
“We were in the position to get the weekend off (by finishing first) and Wauchope probably deserved a week off as well. It’s fitting that it’s first versus second. When we’ve played them it’s always been a tight game, and they’ve always given us a run for our money, so it’ll be a tough grand final. I just hope the rain stays away.”
If the game is washed out, it is expected to be moved to the weekend of April 1 and 2.
