A low pressure trough continues to deepen off the northern New South Wales coast and will persist into the weekend, with the potential for significant rainfall totals by the end of the week.

Widespread further falls of over 100mm between Wednesday (March 15) afternoon and Thursday night (March 16) are possible.
No thunderstorm activity is currently occurring along the coast, however embedded thunderstorms and locally higher rainfall rates are likely to redevelop overnight.
This rainfall has the potential to cause flooding to develop in the following river valleys from Wednesday onwards:
1. Richmond-Wilsons - minor flooding
2. Orara - minor flooding
3. Coffs Coast - minor flooding
4. Bellinger - minor to moderate flooding
5. Nambucca - minor to moderate flooding
6. Macleay - minor flooding
7. Hastings - minor to moderate flooding
This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.
Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.
