That’s the exciting prospect when the the Australian Army Band – based in Newcastle – performs as part of the fifth annual Port Macquarie Beatles Festival.
The four day festival gets underway on Thursday night with a trivia night at the Bago Tavern at Wauchope. Friday will see the festival move to Laurieton United Services Club for a concert with Beatle Magic.
On Saturday, the army band will be performing in the Glasshouse forecourt from around noon.
Festival organisers say the performance will have something for everyone.
“The army band will be playing many of your Beatles’ favourites … whether it is Come Together or Love, Love, Love, you can be sure the band is sure to know it,” a festival organiser said.
With a short break of service after World War Two, under various names and configurations, the Australian Army Band Newcastle has existed as the Hunter Region’s own military band since 1861.
The Australian Army Band Newcastle is capable of performing a wide variety of musical styles and genres suited to most occasions.
The band's make up is constructed around a wind ensemble though it also features a pipes and drums section making it a very versatile package.
Also performing with the army band is up and coming local band Hatch and our own Camden Haven Concert Band.
This free concert gets underway at 10am with the army band set to perform at noon.
So roll up, roll up for the Magical Mystery Tour and be blown away by the three bands as they play their way through the fantastic music of the Fab Four. You may even want to sing along.
