Driver brings down power lines in Lake Cathie crash

Emergency services are attending a single vehicle crash believed to be on the northern side of Lake Cathie.

Paramedics received a call out just prior to 10am on Ocean Drive.

An elderly driver is believed to have left the road and collided with a power pole, bringing down lines. Transported to Port Macquarie Base Hospital, in a serious condition.

The man is believed to be suffering from leg injuries. He is also believed to have gone into cardiac arrest.

There is some disruption to the power supply in the general area.

SES, fire brigade, police and paramedics are at the scene.

Essential Energy has confirmed that power is now restored to some 2977 customers in the Lake Cathie area.

A spokesperson said staff re-routed the power supply around the crash site with power back in operation at 10.50am.

“Essential Energy will replace the power pole once the area is clear and the police provide us with the go ahead,” the spokesperson said.
