There are a number of players vying for key positions in his squad.
But he said yesterday it was a good headache to have.
"It's probably one of the best problems you can have as a team," he said.
"It goes to show how much depth the club has.
"At this stage we'll probably be taking 24 players this weekend."
Shipway said this weekend will be a good opportunity to test out some of his many positional options.
"It took everyone a bit to click last week but by the second game they seemed to pull together," he said.
"There's a few key positions I'll be looking at this weekend."
The majority of last year's players have pulled the boots on again this year.
Add a number of former players to rejoin the club, including Shipway, and a couple of new signings, and the Sharks have found themselves inundated with players.
And when you add last year's undefeated under 18s side, there are many players vying for positions.
"That's something else I will need to look at, blooding some of our 18s," he said.
"Every club that I have been to that has been successful has had a good mix of youth and experience so that's something else we'll have to look at."
The Sharks' first game tomorrow will be against the Wingham Tigers at 2.55pm at Old Bar.
The Port City Breakers will also play tomorrow at 1.40pm against the Old Bar Pirates.
