DR Bernard Doube, renowned for his research on dung beetles world-wide, is visiting Rollands Plains Community Hall on Saturday, November 8.
Hastings Landcare's Cathy Eggert is encouraging people to come along to the workshop.
"This is a great opportunity to learn just how important these fascinating creatures are to our soils, pastures and livestock health," said Cathy.
"It will change the way you think about manure."
Farmers in the Rollands Plains Landcare Group have this year gathered an impressively diverse collection of beetles from their farms.
"We'll go through Landcare's dung beetle survey results with Bernard on the day and we'll talk about how to increase these dung beetle populations and new species to fill seasonal gaps in dung burial," said Cathy.
There'll be an opportunity to look at your beetles under the microscope and have your beetles identified on the day.
Bernard's recent work includes dung beetles for horses, so it's a good chance for horse owners to find out how to get their dung down under.
