THESE two men hope to cap off a season to remember for the Port Macquarie Pirates tomorrow, and in the process, bag a remarkable hat-trick for their team in the Mid North Coast Rugby competition.

The Pirates are looking to knock the Vikings off for the second year in a row on their home turf. That will go with a triumph over Coffs Harbour at its home ground in 2012.

Tomorrow will be Angus Knox's first grand final with the Pirates.

"Hopefully it's one to remember," he said.

The winger/flanker was nervous about taking to the field in the biggest match of the season, but that wasn't the only emotion running through him.

"I'm very excited," he said.

Tim Farnsworth is also nervous about playing.

"You'd be stupid to say no [I'm not nervous]," he said.

"The big games always bring out the nerves. If they don't, you're probably being complacent."

Much like the Vikings are using last year's decider as motivation, Farnsworth said it had been in his mind too.

"The memory of it is still there," he said.

"I know we're capable of putting on a big performance again."

Nigel Hurlston is backing his team to get over the line tomorrow.

It will be a hard task though. The Pirates will have to overcome a lengthy injury list on top of the likes of David Tunstead, Adam McCormack and company in full flight.

Hurlston won't make excuses, win, lose or draw.

"No excuses, whatsoever," he said.

"We'll roll up our sleeves and get it done."

Jake Law is in a race against time to play tomorrow. He was still wearing a moon boot earlier this week.

"He's having round-the-clock physio to get there," Hurlston said.

Hurlston's son Nick has had his appendix out and Eric Wilken will miss the match because of a broken hand.

Despite the full infirmary, Hurlston predicted another great derby after a solid build-up.

"Then we can all have a beer afterwards," he said.

Hurlston loves the build up.

"It's been a cracking week," he said.
