The Pirates ran out victors on their home ground in their last game against the Kempsey Cannonballs.
They won the game 19-7.
The Vikings ran rampant against the Coffs University Marlins with a 66-5 win.
For the Vikings it was all about keeping to the structure and game plan that has been successful for them so far this year.
Tries were evenly shared around the squad with Adam McCormack bucking the trend to cross for a double.
With both teams finishing one and two on the competition ladder it sets the scene for a blockbusting semi final match up between the two intense rivals.
The Vikings will have the home ground advantage having taken out the minor premiership.
Veteran Vikings forward David Tunstead said the last couple of weeks had basically been preparing for the upcoming game.
“In our win on Saturday it was all about sticking to the structure and our game plan so we can take that into this game against the Pirates,” he said.
“We worked on a couple of our set pieces and it gives you a lot of confidence to see these moves we practice at training come off in a game.”
But the club has been dealt a big blow with senior players Gil Hopley and Andrew West missing out on Satrurday’s win due to injury and in doubt for the all important clash against the Pirates.
The winner of this weekend’s big home derby will go straight into the final with the loser playing off against either the Kempsey Cannonballs or Coffs Rugby.
