The Michael Pelley-led team demolished their opponents batting line up with the Pirates only managing 55 runs for their first innings.
Macquarie replied, losing just the single wicket before declaring once the total was reached.
The Pirates were sent back in and managed to perform much better the second time around with the bat managing 6/84 before the end of play.
Macquarie will take to the field tomorrow needing the last four scalps and will then head into bat to pick up the remaining deficit.
"We're in a pretty good position at the moment," Pelley said.
"We're on top we just need to go out there now and get the rest of the wickets.
"It will do our batters good to have a decent run chase ahead of them coming into the finals."
Wauchope RSL will resume its match against Port City Leagues Magpies at Laurieton Oval tomorrow.
Wauchope will have the slight advantage taking first innings points in another low scoring affair.
They managed 92 runs with Magpies reply of just 56.
Wauchope will resume for 2/26 in their second innings.
Camden Haven find themselves with a good lead against Comboyne when they resume day two.
Comboyne batted first and posted 115.
Camden Haven fired back with 174 and they take to the field tomorrow with a handy 59 run lead.
