The centre officially opens its doors to the public from today, and will take residency at the former Roads and Maritime Service building on Central Road. A spokesman for Service NSW said the centre would allow locals to complete more than 850 NSW Government transactions at the same place. More services and transactions, he said, are being added all the time.
"Our service centres are part of the NSW Government's plan to make transacting with the government easier and simpler for all NSW residents and businesses," he said.
The shut down of the former RMS building, and introduction of Service NSW saw some Port Macquarie residents face redundencies.
The spokesman said 14 people were employed through the RMS, and 10 of those staff members have successfully transferred across to operate Service NSW. Service NSW will now employ 15 members of the community.
Service NSW will be open from 7am to 7pm weekdays, with extended hours on Saturdays. Customers can also carry out transactions by visiting www.service.nsw.gov.au or calling 1377 8824.
