Liquorland withdraws application

LIQUORLAND has withdrawn a controversial application to open a bottleshop at Lighthouse Plaza, Ocean Drive.

The Indpendent Liquour and Gaming Authourity advised this week that the application had been withdrawn and that a public meeting planned for March 4 to discuss the proposal had been withdrawn.

However the authority will continue to consider the Aldi application on the basis of submissions already received.

No reason was given by the authority for Liquorland’s decision to withdraw the application but it follows concerns expressed by other bottleshop owners and residents over the proliferation of alocohol outlets in and around the Port Macquarie area.
