Sunday's ride is tipped to be marginally bigger than Saturday's.
Moderate to major flooding is occurring at Settlement Point, with the river reaching 1.65 metres on Saturday's high tide.
Further major peak expected Sunday morning coinciding with the1.9m high tide.
Most of the low-lying areas of Port Macquarie's CBD were battered by the rising floodwater. Many businesses on Short and Clarence streets have been sandbagged as the Hastings River spilled beyond the gutters.
At Wauchope, the river peaked at 7.2 metres around 8pm on Saturday, which was below the 1978 peak.
Major flooding is continuing along the Hastings River at Kindee Bridge and Wauchope.
Meanwhile, authorities have continued to encourage people to stay out of flood waters.
Tragedy has struck twice this weekend with Bonny Hills teenager Luke O'Neill found dead after being sucked down a drainpipe at a golf course at Kew on Friday afternoon.
Further north at Grafton, SES volunteers discovered the body of a man in a submerged car north of the town on Saturday afternoon.
