And in the process, the Hastings Support Group will raise vital funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
Members will be out in force in their red t-shirts, but they need your help.
About 30 people are required to marshal. So far the group has 16.
“We need another 12 or 14,” group chairman Bruce Cant said.
The group does some great work for the chopper. Last year, the “red shirts” – that’s their colloquial name – raised about $70,000.
The chopper costs a lot to run every year, saving lives.
“It costs $11 or $12 million,” Cant said.
“But it saves lives. And as you know, no-one who has used the chopper has ever had to pay.
“We hear stories all the time. We always get people coming up and talking to us.”
The group hopes to raise some more vital funds come March.
“It should be reasonable,” Cant said.
He said he aimed for about $2000.
