Seventy-two holes came down to a three-way tie, and Brandston held his nerve to birdie the par four hole and take victory.
He set up the win in the first round, with a course record 64.
Brandston was at the top of the leaderboard for all bar one of the 72 holes.
Brandston knew he was in with a chance of winning when he smacked a drive to pull up about 80 metres short of the hole.
His opponents struggled with their drives in comparison.
Brandston’s second shot was even better, leaving him with a three-foot putt.
Sinking it was a relatively easy proposition, but Brandston said it wasn’t assured.
“I’ve missed them in the past,” he said.
Brandston’s nerves were high as he watched the putt role in.
“Definitely,” he said.
“It’s not like you win one (a tournament) every day.
“But it’s a pretty good feeling.”
He’s got a packed year coming up. Brandston will compete at the Queensland PGA, the Victorian Open and the New Zealand PGA.
The rest of the year will be taken up by the One Asia Tour, with 13 tournaments.
“They’re looking to put more on,” Brandston said.
His Heritage Classic win was followed by a tilt at qualifying for the British Open.
The top three finishers secured a spot at the open, but Brandston wasn’t one of them.
“No good,” he said when asked how he went.
He wasn’t sure where he finished.
“When I knew I wasn’t in the top three, I didn’t worry about it,” he said.
