Blokes Notes is a men only, volunteer, not-for-profit, community a capella group who entertain with vigour and humour at functions across the Mid-North Coast from Kendall to Kempsey.
They had a great time last year performing at charity functions such as the parade of Maureen Cooke’s vintage fashions to help raise funds for Endeavour Clubhouse and as part of the amazing Bago Magic’s Red Boar Riot show.
The group has also popped up at flash mob moments causing heads to turn and women’s hearts to flutter – at least that’s what they say.
All their performances showcase the wealth of talent of the choir members and the great sense of camaraderie that has developed since the group was founded by Marcus Ludriks four years ago.
There are no auditions to join and musical director Leanne Johnson says the group is “by the Blokes, of the Blokes, and for all the community to enjoy”.
“If a picture can tell a thousand words, a song can tell a thousand pictures,” Johnson says.
When a bunch of Blokes from all walks of life join together with a sense of humour and wit, the result is life-affirming, optimistic entertainment.
Anyone who can grow a beard if they want to, qualify and are welcome.
Rehearsals resume tomorrow and every Thursday at 6.30pm for two hours at the Port Macquarie Historic Courthouse.
For more information call Warren Frumar on 0412 280 869 or Marcus Ludriks on 0428 495 656.
