Either Port City Leagues Magpies or Macquarie Hotel will have their name etched onto the May Kelly Cup.
Leagues booked their place in the final with a win over Port Panthers Pirates last week, while Macquarie knocked over Comboyne on Wednesday to see it through.
Macca captain Michael Pelley said his team had worked hard on its T20 performances this season, and was thrilled to make the decider.
“We’ve worked hard on our batting and fielding,” he said.
“In a lot of games, our fielding has been the difference.”
He said playing cricket on Australia Day was an added bonus.
“No-one else is playing cricket that day. Hopefully we can get a big crowd.”
He looked forward to playing the other form team of the competition.
The last time the teams met in the T20s, it was a close, high-scoring affair.
Macquarie batted first and scored 6-192 that night. The Magpies could only manage 8-176 in reply.
“We’ve been the best two teams,” Pelley said.
Magpies captain Craig Grant is hoping for a better performance in the field this time around.
“Last time we bowled badly and we fielded badly,” he said.
“Hopefully we can bowl better lines and field better this time.”
Macquarie’s strong line-up was full of threats, Grant said, and it would be tough work restricting them.
“Findlay – he got runs against us last time,” he said.
