The inaugural Port Macquarie Beatles Festival in March is a chance for everyone who has ever sung a chorus from one of the Fab Four’s songs to come together and celebrate the era when the British invasion was complete.
Greater Port Macquarie Tourism Association president Janette Hyde and former Port Macquarie-Hastings Council administrator Neil Porter are excited about the prospect of bringing together The Beatles fans from across Australia for a fun event. Local firms King and Campbell, specialists in design and architecture, and Bugden and Partners, accounting and tax experts are on board as sponsors with media partners Port News, but more support would be welcome.
The organising committee is hoping people will get into the spirit by dressing up in The Beatles inspired outfits, bring memorabilia to share with others and dance and sing along at every opportunity.
Popular local performers will be part of the entertainment in addition to The Beatnix and there will be merchandise for sale.
More information will come to light in the coming weeks and any suggestions are welcome.
Keep an eye on the Port News for updates and contact Janette Hyde at jad.hyde@pigpond.com or on 0418 837 683 to get involved.
