Much of the criticism is being directed at Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and the amount of money spent on the Glasshouse.
Regardless, this issue is not just about the Town Beach kiosk and whether beach-goers can get something decent to eat.
This is about the provision of a very important piece of infrastructure.
Our Marine Rescue volunteers play an integral role in terms of maintaining safety at sea and deserve an adequate base to work from.
The existing building, quite simply, is no longer adequate and needs to be replaced as a matter of urgency if Marine Rescue is to continue operating at its best.
It’s time for council to sit down with the State Government and come up with a plan that will deliver Marine Rescue Port Macquarie the facilities our dedicated volunteers need and deserve.
