RSL needed just the five wickets to overhaul Haven’s total of 161 at Inmon Fields. The batsmen shared the runs around. Brian Fowler scored 46 and captain Brad Baxter 41 not out.
Chris Newbound, batting at number three, made 36 before he was caught.
Earlier, Newbound was also among the wickets. He took three to help restrict Camden Haven to 161. The first of his scalps was Andrew Hall, who made 53 before Newbound knocked his timber over.
Camden Haven’s next highest scorer was keeper Michael Mawson. He scored 37 not out.
Along with Newbound’s three wickets, Heath Larance and Sam Johnson took two each, and Matt Day one.
Port City Leagues Magpies continued Port Panthers Pirates’ dismal season at Laurieton Oval.
Magpies won by 17 runs, restricting Pirates to 4-114, to ensure the Pirates stayed near the foot of the table. The Magpies scored 5-131 after being sent in to bat. Mark Jackson was the best with the blade, with 38 not out.
Mick Hourigan made 28 and Jamie Hall 23 not out. Plenty of batsmen made starts for the Pirates, but no-one went on with it to ensure a win.
Jamie Carroll scored 28 before Phil McVicar had him caught by Tom Todd, while Jack Darcy made 27 not out. Ethan Durbridge got 20 runs.
The Magpies bowlers weren’t greedy. Jackson, Sean Staniforth, Travis Glavurdic and McVicar each took a wicket.
Macquarie Hotel easily accounted for Bonny Hills in the other match of the grade. Sam Carlon smashed 87 for Macquarie, and Josh Hyde hit 81 not out. In reply, Bonnies could only manage 108.
Hyde backed up with the ball to take 4-10 from three overs.
