Families of all forms have flocked to the Hastings to soak up activities, dining and ways to relax.

Brisbane’s Linda Durbidge, her husband Darren Sellers and their six-year-old son Kalyn Sellers have stopped off in our town on the way home from New Year’s Eve at Dubbo.

Their tent was destroyed by a wind storm while camping in the inland NSW township, so the family was looking at limiting their budget in our town.

Pre-booking a night accommodation in a cabin at the Sundowner Breakwall Tourist park, the family have enjoyed themselves so much they’ve extended their stay an extra two nights.

“We originally planned to spend five nights in Coffs Harbour but we’ve decided to spend more time here instead,” Ms Durbidge said.

The family have enjoyed strolling along our beaches and the Town Green.

They spent last night on a sunset cruise to check out the area further. Kalyn also hoped to do a spot of fishing with his dad.

Our friendly, country-like atmosphere is what appealed most to the family.

They were pleasantly surprised by the hearty sized meals at our restaurants and the friendliness of our community.

“It’s a beautiful place and we’re looking forward to seeing more of it,” Mr Sellers said.

Sydneysiders Virginia and Lachlan Allen, and Rob and Sean Johnson are regular visitors to the Hastings.

For the fifth time, they were spending eight days in our town, staying at Wyndham Vacation Resort in Flynns Beach.

Water activities like the Port Jet Boat and jet skis appealed to the boys, while the adults’ aim was to relax.

New shops to browse through were a change most notable to the family.

“The road upgrade on the way in made the last leg of the journey that bit easier, too,” Mr Johnson said.
