There are more stars, drama, dance and diversity than ever before!
Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, New Zealand’s beloved soprano, on possibly her last great tour, will be gracing the Glasshouse stage in 2013. Tickets are extremely limited.
“Dame Kiri is one of the great sopranos, her stellar career is part of world music history along with other great dames, such as Nellie Melba and Joan Sutherland. This is and major international star – and she will be right here in the Glasshouse Theatre. All I can say is get your tickets…. fast!” said Performing Arts Program Manager, Ms Belinda Gibson.
The best of ‘the festivals’ will also be coming to Port Macquarie and include Flickerfest, Australia’s leading short film festival, the ever-popular Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow (and its offshoot Class Clowns), Edinburgh Fringe Festival Award winner Mr Bunk with his unique show Sticks, Stones, Broken Bones, and international festival stars Blue Grassy Knoll with their unique live bluegrass band presentation of Buster Keaton’s The General.
In 2013 the Glasshouse will be presenting the acclaimed Melbourne Ballet Company and recent Australian Dance Award Winner Expressions Dance Company with their contemporary interpretation of Romeo & Juliet. With all previous Glasshouse presents dance shows selling out and enjoying rave reviews from patrons - don’t miss out this year!
Theatre classics David Williamson’s The Club, starring stage and television star John Wood, and the stage adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock’s 39 Steps will thrill the theatre buffs. Jack Charles will tell his incredible life story in Jack Charles vs The Crown and Sundowner, starring Helen Morse and the original Tivoli Lovelies, will be a truly moving night at the theatre.
For the first time the community will not need to commit to buying multiple shows to secure the best seats or cheaper ticket prices. Instead the Glasshouse is introducing a Glasshouse Membership program, providing the same benefits as the previous subscription program but with much more flexibility.
“This year we are offering the community the opportunity to become Glasshouse Members. Most simply put, this is incentive program for our regular theatre patrons. Members will have access to lower ticket prices for select theatre and gallery events throughout the year – as well as 20% off in the Glasshouse Shop. Members also enjoy a priority booking period throughout December to ensure the best seats for shows in 2013. The Membership program has been embraced by our past theatre subscribers and many more. People can buy membership throughout the year and I strongly encourage anyone buying a ticket at the Glasshouse to consider a membership as it will save you money. We already have two venue hire shows offering membership prices in 2013 - and this will grow through the year,” said Ms Gibson.
This will be the fifth annual professional theatre season delivered to our region by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council through the Glasshouse. This program ensures the community has access to the same high-quality performing arts opportunities available to other regional communities around Australia.
