“It will be great to see all our hard work finally realised,” Ian said.
“I can’t wait to see what dad’s been finishing up.”
Dad is Jim Mobbs, who with wife Kay, owns Bago Vineyards on Milligans Road, Wauchope, where the maze has been cultivated.
It started as an idea about 10 years ago, for something to complement the winery, and is now a welcome attraction at the picturesque location.
Ian said the design was inspired by a maze he saw in England.
“It had spiral shapes and they told us they are hard to navigate, so that’s what we wanted,” he said.
Now based in Canberra, Ian has left much of the final preparations to his parents.
When asked if people will get lost, he said: “I hope so, that’s the idea”.
“We aim for people to spend about 20 minutes to half an hour in the maze.”
It opens at noon and thereafter from 10am to 4pm Wednesday to Sunday and during school holidays and public holidays. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children.
