Tomorrow, the band will perform a host of jolly tunes to get the Hastings excited for the most anticipated day on the festive calendar.
Director Frank Rugers has been leading the group for five years. He is a passionate believer in the theory that music expands young minds.
"We've seen anecdotal evidence of changes in kids because it gives them something to focus on," Rugers said.
"We're providing enjoyment, a chance to socialise and focus for young people."
With 55 members, the musical director expected strong representation. The Sing Australia Choir, Port Macquarie Town Band, St Josephs Regional Jazz Band and duets by Maddi Farlow and Alex Smallman will ensure a magical, musical experience for all who venture to the Town Green from 6.45pm.
Beforehand, a bunch of Santas from Hastings businesses will race each other along Horton Street for the Business Santa Fun Run from 6.15pm.
A parade will follow the fun run, taking the convoy to the Town Green for the main event. A spectacular Christmas tree will light up around 8pm as an official indication Christmas is just around the corner.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has partnered with the Port Macquarie Chamber of Commerce for the event, which is expected to be bigger and better than ever.
