Police said the man was arrested when he attended Wauchope Police Station about 4.30pm over an incident which happened earlier in the day.
About 1pm the man allegedly threatened another man with a 10cm serrated blade knife while the victim was standing at the back of his car in High St, Wauchope.
Police said the victim got back into his car and his girlfriend tried to drive away. But the man allegedly approached the victim and again produced the knife.
Police said the victim, fearing for his and his girlfriend’s safety, grabbed a tyre lever from his car and told the man to leave him alone.
The man was taken from Wauchope to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, intimidation and wielding a knife in a public place. He was refused bail to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court today.
