About the Opportunity Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has an opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join our Infrastructure and Recreation Operations as our Transport and Stormwater Operations Manager. This vital position will oversees the maintenance, renewal and rehabilitation works on the transport (road and bridge infrastructure) and stormwater networks throughout the 3,000 square kilometre Local Government Area. Reporting to the Group Manager Infrastructure and Recreation Operations, this role will oversee a significant team, with 4 - 6 direct and 40 - 80 indirect reports, and is responsible for both sealed and unsealed roads, vegetation management, structures and stormwater networks and fleet management. About the Role With responsibility for managing the maintenance, rehabilitation and renewal of roads, both sealed and unsealed, you will also oversee these activities for the wooden and concrete bridges within the Council area. Undertaking both planned and emergency maintenance, you will be responsible for managing stormwater networks and overseeing fleet management, including trucks, cars and ferries. About you Possessing an Engineering degree and with extensive, proven experience in civil or construction engineering, you will also bring significant demonstrated experience in the maintenance of Australian roads. As a persuasive manager, you will possess exceptional change management skills and experience. Your strong communication and relationship-building skills will enable you to form effective long-term working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, both within and external to the Council. Strategically minded with a focus on continuous improvement, you will provide the Group Manager and Director with practical, best practice advice enabling the most efficient use of resources to achieve the best value for money and high-quality outcomes for the community. Experience in project management or a background in infrastructure will be highly regarded.
