The Role

A well-respected health service on the NSW Mid North Coast is seeking a suitably qualified Consultant Psychiatrist to work with adult mental health patients. The successful applicant will be working across inpatient and community-based settings with the support of a dedicated multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include clinical management and treatment of patients; participating in an on-call roster; teaching, training and supervision of medical students and associated clinical staff; adherence with clinical governance; and participation in quality service improvement activities.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP) or equivalent

The Hospital

The hospital you will be working in is a major referral facility providing high level care to a diverse population. Mental health services are provided within a designated twelve-bed inpatient unit with capability to segregate four acute beds to support the care of patients with varying care and observation needs. The mental health team includes nursing staff, psychiatrist, psychiatric registrar, a junior medical officer, social worker, activity officer, health services assistants and administrative workers. Services are delivered to adult, child and adolescent, and older age individuals experiencing mental health issues and associated conditions. A variety of specialist mental health services and programs are also delivered across communities within the region.

The Location

The successful candidate will be working in a NSW mid north coast location known for its gorgeous beaches, lush hinterland areas and stunning coastal scenery. The area has a diverse range of attractions including a Koala Hospital and Zoo, river cruises, wineries, national parks, hiking trails, fishing and boating. This is a sought-after location with a large shopping precinct, excellent schools, entertainment venues and a variety of sporting clubs to suit wide ranging interests.
