WAYNE Halder saw a very real need for attractions and activities for the youth and tourists in Port Macquarie.
He hopes to be able to open his brain child this weekend in the aim of bringing something new to the area.
The indoor centre (at the former Switch Skate Park site) will allow thrill seekers to scream around the course on one of seven karts that can be in operation at any one time.
“Port Macquarie really doesn’t have much,” he said.
“Not just for the youngsters but also for visitors to our area.”
He said even further expansion of his idea is possible once the centre gets off the ground.
“It depends how we go with this,” he said.
“If it takes off and is popular we might look at another or a bigger shed somewhere.”
Mr Halder said the best thing about his centre was it gave people something to do rain hail or shine.
“The few things there is to do around town depend on the weather,” he said.
“This is something you can do even if it’s too hot to go to the beach or if it’s raining.”
He said a number of variables were still in the air and said some details were subject to change.
“We’re not exactly sure on the opening hours just yet but it will be something like 9am until 8.30pm or 9pm,” he said.
“We were looking to be open at night to give the youngsters something to do when most other things are closed.”
Mr Halder said he hoped to be up and running this weekend.
