Stockham was lost for words when he took out the gong on Friday night at the Westport Club.
He’s only been a member of the Westport Men’s Bowling Club for one year, but Stockham has wasted no time in picking up title after title.
The latest was at Soldiers Point two weeks ago in the State Pairs. Stockham teamed with Kyle Baldwin, and just went down, 24-19, in the final..
“It was fairly close all the way,” he said.
Close matches were a feature of the pair’s winning streak. They won the zone final by four shots.
In the last 16 match, Baldwin and Stockham were behind by three shots with one end left to play. “Then we got a four on the final end to win by one,” Stockham said.
Along with his state pairs title with Kyle Baldwin, Stockham has won the 2012 Club Singles and Pairs title, along with the Lower North Coast District Pairs, Triples and Fours crowns.
He was the winner of the Zone 14 Pairs, runner-up in the District Champion of Champion Pairs and runner-up in the Zone 14 Fours.
Stockham was picked in the NSW State Legends team this year, along with the Zone 14 Pat Geary Shield team and the Lower North Coast District Bowling Association team.
But Stockham’s success stretches back further than this year. He was a member of the winning State Fours team in 1997, and a runner-up in the State Singles in 2000.
