President Rod Davison says the addition of the Sling 2 breaks new ground for the popular club.
"The arrival of the Sling 2 marks a new era in the club's 60 year history with the Sling being the first low wing Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) operated by the club," he said.
"Manufactured in South Africa, there are now over 80 operating in Australia, with 25 of these in flying schools.
"The versatility of the Sling has been well-demonstrated making it the ideal flying club machine.
"It's simple operation, docile handling, rugged construction and impressive performance enable its use as an ab initio trainer as well as a cross country tourer."
Mr Davison said the aircraft comes well equipped with an Electronic Flight Information System (EFIS) incorporating a GPS and Autopilot.
The Sling, along with the existing HDFC Foxbat, is classified as a Light Sport Aircraft.
These aircraft are operated under the simplified rules of Recreational Aviation Australia allowing more accessible and affordable flight training and private hire, Mr Davison said.
